The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is getting a new expansion nearly a decade after Blood and Wine
Set to release in 2027, the expansion revisits Geralt while CD Projekt Red continues expanding the Witcher universe.

Almost 10 years ago, we received what we thought was the final update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt—the Blood and Wine DLC—which marked the end of support for the game so that CD Projekt Red could focus fully on Cyberpunk 2077. However, this isn’t the last we’ve seen of Geralt of Rivia in that game, as the studio confirmed this morning what had already been rumored: The Witcher will receive a third update titled Songs of the Past.
The expansion, developed in collaboration with Fool’s Theory—the studio behind the remake of the first Witcher game—will launch in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For now, it is known that “Songs of the Past will return players to the role of legendary monster slayer Geralt of Rivia for a brand-new adventure.” Beyond that, no further details have been revealed, but more will be shared in “late Summer 2026.”

A look back at the past, but with our eyes on the future
Currently, CD Projekt Red is working on multiple projects under The Witcher brand. As we mentioned earlier, these include a remake of the first game, a multiplayer title, and The Witcher 4, which will follow the adventures of Ciri—we saw a tech demo for it last summer.

Fortunately, tomorrow the studio will host a stream with announcements to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Blood and Wine—in fact, this expansion was originally scheduled to be announced tomorrow, but an issue with the RED Launcher forced them to move up the announcement.
