With a huge variety of knife options, players have taken to analyzing CS:GO professionals’ stats to figure out which one is the best in the game. Here are the results.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has been around for over a decade, and with constant updates and content drops, players have received many options when it comes to armaments. One of these are knives and melee weapon skins, something that every single player starts their match with and that usually goes unused by most. Knife to a gun fight and all that.
However, their high use difficulty has set them apart as a bragging right, not only because killing an enemy with one is such a rare event, but also because knifes can be found in the pay-to-open item crates the game has become infamous for. It may take you hundreds of dollars to find one, or if you’re lucky enough you’ll get one from the first crate. But rarity aside, Reddit users have wondered for years which knife is the most popular among pro players.
The best knife in CS:GO, according to the pros
According to user u/jrwb007 on r/GlobalOffensive, one knife has risen amongst the pros to be the most used one: the Butterfly knife. The redditor posted a chart that showcased the popularity of each weapon among the top 25 teams on HLTV, and with it being chosen by 54 players, the Butterfly knife and it spinny animations take the prize.
Behind it, the most popular knifes are the Karambit (21 players), M9 Bayonet (15 players), and the Talon knife (6 players). No other knife goes above 5 picks, although there is a healthy variety of choices by the pros.
“Loads of players use the flip knife, but in the past 3 months most top pros, use it for 4 to 5 games then get bored, and then use butterfly or karambit or something. I guess pro’s just cannot deal with one knife,” said jrwb007 in the same post, trying to figure out why the pros made their choices. While its true that each knife takes some training to use, as their attack range and strength vary greatly among them, in the end there’s not enough of a difference so that it may affect the outcome of a match.
