They’re building a nuclear shelter for rich people, and it looks like something out of Fallout

We don’t know when the end of the world will come, but all signs point to it. As long as geopolitical tensions and climate change continue on the planet, they will surely happen at a faster pace than they should. We all imagine a wasteland like the one in the ‘Fallout’ franchise, where hostile creatures and survivors would add to the already difficult conditions of inhabiting an Earth that would be unfit for humans, but... what if we had many millions of people living on the planet? What if we had tens of millions of dollars? Well, we could choose to live in a bunker, which would not only be the best option, but also a paradise.

A Fallout-worthy shelter

Virginia-based SAFE (Strategically Armored & Fortified Environments) has announced the construction of Aerie, a shelter affordable only to the very wealthy that will redefine the concept of survival. With a budget of $300 million, Aerie is not just a shelter, but an entire underground city designed to meet the most eccentric needs.

It will have up to 625 beds with private apartments with panoramic screens that simulate the view from a window, and each of these beds will be auctioned off at a price of 20 million dollars. From here we can choose a living space worthy of a 5-star hotel, exclusive restaurants - another thing is where the raw materials for cooking would come from - and even robotic medical systems to assist in the worst moments.

SAFE has made a name for itself in the industry by building not only private bunkers, but also infrastructure at Formula 1 circuits, but until now, nothing has compared to Aerie. According to SAFE Founder and President Al Corbie, “Aerie” will surpass anything the company has presented before, and the underground bunker will change the face of the industry.
