Square Enix

This beautiful RPG series is finally complete across all consoles, now available on Xbox Game Pass and PS5

The series published by Square Enix is finally available on all current console platforms and PC, and to celebrate it has received some updates.

Update:
Octopath Traveler - Olberic

One of the RPGs that debuted in 2018 is finally available across all current consoles. Square Enix has announced that the Octopath Traveler series is now available across all current console platforms, as well as PC. This completes the experience for PlayStation and Xbox players after the two titles in the series debuted on Nintendo Switch.

Octopath Traveler now available on all platforms

Developed by Square Enix and Acquire, Octopath Traveler was originally released for Nintendo Switch in July 2018, jumping to PC and Xbox One the following year in 2021. Meanwhile, its sequel, Octopath Traveler II, was released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC in February 2023.

For Xbox users, the surprise is twofold, as the full experience is available today as part of the top titles coming to the Xbox Game Pass service this month. Meanwhile, PlayStation users with a PlayStation Plus membership can purchase the first title at a 34% discount until June 20.

In addition, and to celebrate the arrival of these titles, Team Asano has released an update for Octopath Traveler II that includes the “Extra Battle” mode. This mode tests players’ skills “against newly added tough opponents — including the main characters from Octopath Traveler.” The mode is already included in the version released today on Xbox and will be available as an update for PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC users.

An uncertain future for Octopath Traveler

For now, there is no announcement if Octopath Traveler will continue. Earlier this year, Acquire Corp, the studio behind the series, was purchased by Kadokawa Corporation, a company that already owns FromSoftware (of Elden Ring and Dark Souls fame) and Spike Chunsoft (Danganronpa, Mystery Dungeon, and the original developers of Dragon Quest).
