This extremely rare SNES is selling for over 3 million dollars

An auction for an extremely rare and special Super Nintendo appeared with an exorbitant price tag, and it’s causing chaos among collectors.

The world of video games is not only made up of players; It also has a good handful of collectors who treat consoles and video games themselves as museum pieces. As happens in other industries (literature, cinema, art...), there are some products that reach an exorbitant value and the reason is usually always the same: their degree of rarity.

Do you remember the gold Nintendo Wii designed for Queen Elizabeth II? Well, there is a console much more valuable than hers and it is not made of gold, but simple plastic. Of course, its rarity is even greater, since it is a unique SNES (Super Nintendo) prototype. This experimental version appeared in magazines of the time, but as is evident, it was never commercialized.

The main difference from the final version is the striking red power button, as well as a headphone jack and a wheel that allows you to adjust the sound level. As some users on Twitter theorize, it’s possible that this is actually a development kit of the Super NES/Super Famicom era. Well, someone has this console under their belt and has decided to auction it, reaching a truly crazy price: $3,200,000 USD.

Of course, at this time it is not known what will happen to the machine, since the auction has been paused and restarted several times due to suspicions of fraudulent bids.

SNES games on Nintendo Switch

Although this is a small amount, remember that the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack service allows you to enjoy several Super Nintendo games on the console, among which are proper names such as Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, Star Fox, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Metroid, and more.
