This is GTA 6’s plan to stand out before its release

Grand Theft Auto 6 is one of the most anticipated games in history, a title that has been dreamed about for a long time and will become a reality this coming fall. In a recent interview, Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two, discussed the company’s marketing strategy for GTA 6, a launch tactic the company has successfully applied to all of its titles.

The interviewer asks Strauss Zelnick when Grand Theft Auto 6 will be released. “It seems to be a carefully held secret,” he says. “Why is it so hot and carefully held as a secret?” To which the Take Two CEO replies, “The anticipation for this title may be the greatest anticipation I’ve ever seen for any entertainment property, and I’ve been around the block a few times. We want to maintain the anticipation and the excitement. We do have competitors who will describe their release schedule years in advance, and we’ve found that the better thing to do is to provide marketing materials relatively close to the release window in order to create that excitement on the one hand, and balance the excitement with the anticipation. We don’t always get it exactly right, but that’s what we’re trying to do.”

A strategy for a game that wants to make history

GTA 6 may not need an introduction, nor a marketing campaign; the saga and the success of the same are enough claim to call all players. Nevertheless, the CEO of Take-Two is clear that the title of Rockstar Games will have to put all the meat on the grill before the launch. This is a moment of impact when the expected date approaches, with the aim of attracting as much attention as possible.
