Dragon Ball

This is the crazy sequel to ‘Dragon Ball Z’ by an unleashed Akira Toriyama that almost no one knows about

‘Neko Majin Z’ is a kind of non-canon self-parody/sequel to the adventures of Goku and company after the end of the manga and the beginning of GT.

Update:
Neko Majin Z Dragon Ball Z Akira Toriyama

After the end of the ‘Dragon Ball’ manga, its creator, Akira Toriyama, continued to create new stories such as ‘Sand Land’, the manga of which we will soon get both the anime series and the video game. But among his lesser-known works stands out a series of comics under the title ‘Neko Majin’, eight stories published between 1999 and 2005 in Shonen Jump, whose third and last arc, ‘Neko Majin Z’, can be considered a true sequel to ‘Dragon Ball’, with an unleashed Toriyama, shamelessly parodying himself, but in no case considering it canon. But certain curiosities of this work should be saved.

New Saiyan, Frieza’s son and more

So the stories of ‘Neko Majin’ tell us the adventures of the Neko Majin, a race of magical cats who only think about having fun and learning martial arts. And in the case of the last arc, starring Z, its plot intersects with the world of ‘Dragon Ball’, specifically in the period between the end of ‘Dragon Ball Z’, with Goku going far away to train Uub, and the beginning of ‘Dragon Ball GT’, a period of five years in which Toriyama wanted to explore new adventures. And ‘Neko Majin Z’ is one of them, although it is not considered official canon, like the GT anime itself.

It is a story with a totally unleashed Toriyama, escaping from any ties to the Shueisha publishing house or the Toei anime company. In it, Z joins Goku and other protagonists of “Dragon Ball” to live new adventures with other unpublished characters such as a new Saiyan called Onio or even the son of Frieza called Kuriza. All this from the self-parody that gave birth to comic books with which Toriyama wanted to have fun without further pretensions.

The character of Neko Majin Z has also had his run in other products in the ‘Dragon Ball’ saga, such as his appearances in video games like Dragon Ball Heroes, Super Dragon Ball Heroes, or Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors 2; in addition, the character of Kuriza was included as an extra appearance of Frieza in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2.
