This is the new Inferno map in Counter-Strike 2: new updates and changes

Valve doesn’t release many games nowadays. But when they do, they go all out. Counter-Strike 2 is currently gearing up for release at some point during this year, and yesterday they announced that even more players are being invited to join the ongoing Limited Test beta. With hundreds of new players pouring into the sequel, images of updated classic maps like Inferno are starting to be revealed. And the fans are in love.

Far from being a simple visual upgrade, CS2′s Inferno has actually been altered spatially, resulting in a familiar yet new experience for many. However, the players have been raving about how beautiful it looks.

Inferno is jaw-droppingly gorgeous. They seriously outdid themselves. Screenshots do not do it justice. You have to see it for yourself,” says u/Halvdjaevel on a reddit post where the new and original levels are compared side by side. But graphics are not the only thing that has been redesigned. “Looks like you need to jump on the railing to peek round the corner on balcony. That’s going to be a nightmare to clear,” says another user, in one of the many comments discussing how the geometry of the map will alter the way it’ll affect gameplay.

Many players have also pointed out how well lit the map is, with no areas that are too dark and in which campers tended to hide to surprise players. However, it might be that the map is maybe a bit too bright: “I ain’t gonna lie, walking out on A site with the default 110% brightness felt like getting flashbanged. The other parts of the map are mostly fine, but damn.”

If you’d like to take a closer look at the redesigned map, YouTuber Virre CSGO has uploaded a complete cinematic tour in which they also walk through the entire map looking at the changes. You can find it below.

Counter-Strike 2 still has no official release date, but Valve continues to point at a “Summer 2023″ release window, which means it might be here sooner than we expect.
