Three checks in WhatsApp? A new report suggests an update in message security
The most demanded feature by millions of users is seemingly starting to arrive, as some sources in Europe show.
In the world of communication, WhatsApp has been characterized as one of the most popular applications and therefore one that is constantly updated. For several years now, there has been talk of a possible third check receipts verification of messages, and recently it seems that this rumor is gaining more strength. This supposed new feature aims to provide more information to users of the popular instant messaging app, in addition to the advantages it offers both in terms of security and privacy.
The third tick of WhatsApp: what it is and how true is it?
According to some sites in Europe, since its most recent update, WhatsApp has begun to introduce a new visual signal: the famous third check. An indicator that aims to strengthen privacy in WhatsApp conversations. According to the information, this new feature will allow users to know if their messages have been forwarded to other people or groups without their consent. So, until now, after sending a message we only had information about whether it had been received and read by the recipient through the gray and blue ticks, but not if it was shared with other people through the app itself.
For now, this feature is not in Meta’s plans. In fact, just in the latest blog post on Whatsapp’s official site, there is no reference to a third check receipt as much rumored.
Meaning of WhatsApp check read receipts
So far we had up to three check read receipts in WhatsApp messages whose meaning are as follows:
- Single gray tick: the message has been sent successfully.
- Double gray tick: the message has been received by the recipient.
- Double blue tick: the message has been read by the recipient.
