The actor hanged himself from a plane at more than 3,000 meters and 130 miles per hour.

There is a reason why it is said that there are no more Hollywood stars like in the past. How many of the new talent are shooting their own action scenes? And how many of them would be willing to do so at the age of 62? Tom Cruise once again set an example during the filming of ‘Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning,’ where he once again put his life on the line, hanging from a plane at thousands of feet and 130 miles.

Empire magazine has released an image from the movie showing Cruise clinging to a 1930s Boeing Stearman flying at 10,000 feet. “There are stunts in this movie that will melt your brain,” director Steve McQuarrie tells the magazine. Even the actor himself admits he couldn’t even breathe. “When you stick your face out, going over 120 to 130 miles an hour, you’re not getting oxygen. So I had to train myself how to breathe. There were times I would pass out physically; I was unable to get back into the cockpit.”

This is not the first time we have seen Cruise put himself in harm’s way during this film. We recently saw him nearly die underwater, and filming had to be postponed for months (and millions of dollars lost) due to a submarine accident. The actor is so committed to the movie (which opens May 23) that he is said to be even designing the popcorn buckets. He wants to do everything in his power to avoid a box-office flop like the seventh installment.
