Tom Holland reveals the ‘fun’ status of ‘Spider-Man 4′ and admits it’s his first time in the role

There is hope for fans of Tom Holland as Spider-Man. Some time ago, we reported why the movie was in jeopardy and revealed the discussion between the actor, Marvel and Sony. Some wanted a new “big” installment, even with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield back, while others wanted something more “realistic” and focused on a single Peter. Well, Holland has confirmed that the project is still moving forward and updated its status:

“This is the first time in this process that I’ve been part of the creative so early. It’s just a process where I’m watching and learning. It’s just a really fun stage for me. Like I said, everyone wants it to happen. But we want to make sure we’re not overdoing the same things,” the actor told Deadline.

The actor assures that although there has been a lot of talk about his retirement as Spider-Man and Tobey Maguire’s return for ‘Spider-Man 4′, he wants to continue playing the wall-crawler. “I owe my life and career to Spider-Man. So the simple answer is yes. I’ll always want to do more. We have the best in the business working toward whatever the story might be. But until we’ve cracked it, we have a legacy to protect. The third movie was so special in so many ways that we need to make sure we do the right thing.”

Holland surely wants to make sure he leaves the same mark as Tobey Maguire (who is still sweeping the box office 22 years after its release) and “Spider-Man: A New Universe,” which the actor says is the best movie ever made about the character.

“I think the first ‘Spider-Verse’ movie is the best Spider-Man movie that’s ever been made. I’m so proud of everyone involved. [Producer] Amy Pascal is like my mom. I was supposed to go with her [to the premiere] as her date, I couldn’t go because I’m here working. But I’m incredibly proud of them.”
