Nintendo

User sent two childhood consoles to Nintendo for repair and got two collector’s items instead

If you have a faulty Nintendo 3DS or similar at home, perhaps you should think about sending the consoles to Nintendo for repair; you never know!

Nintendo 3DS

Nintendo has a technical service through which they repair faulty or damaged consoles, and in many cases return them fully functional to their owners. And this option is not only available within the warranty period of their devices; it is also possible to send back relatively old consoles by paying the repair fee in each case. Models from a few years ago such as the Nintendo 2DS or Nintendo 3DS handhelds. This is what the protagonist of this curious story did, who sent two Nintendo 3DS from his childhood to be repaired and received two brand new models, one of them very special.

A user sends his 3DS to repair and receives two treasures

A Nintendo user from the United Kingdom sent his two Nintendo 3DS from his childhood to Nintendo’s technical service to have them repaired. In return, he received two new models of the same console, one of them truly special. He shared this on Reddit, detailing that he sent a blue New Nintendo 3DS XL and a turquoise Nintendo 3DS, not knowing 100% if Nintendo could repair them or if they would have replacement parts.

Moreover, these were two consoles he was particularly fond of, as they had been with him for 15 years. However, he received quite a gift in return, as Nintendo replaced his turquoise 3DS with a brand new model, while his New 3DS XL was replaced with a Hyrule edition of the console. Apparently, Nintendo even contacted him to find out which model he preferred as a replacement, including a Samus Aran or Majora’s Mask version.

All this in exchange for £79 per console, or what is the same, about $102 at the exchange rate. Of course, the repair really paid off for Reddit user Dependent-Fox-4018, so he has not hesitated to recommend Nintendo’s technical service in the UK in his post. Apparently, Nintendo offers this repair service in Europe for Nintendo 2DS and 3DS models and their numerous variants, but not for consoles such as Wii or Wii U.
