Valve has announced the official release date and price for the Steam Machine—get your wallet ready

After months of waiting, the 2026 Steam Machine—the new piece of hardware that promises to bring the PC gaming experience to your living room—now has a release date and pricing. And boy, I hope you’ve saved up everything you bought during the Steam Sales over the past few years.

What are the Steam Machine models, and how much does each one cost?

Valve announced that its Steam Machine will be available in two models—one with the much-maligned Steam Controller and one without—and that both will be available starting June 30. And boy, those prices...

• 512GB Steam Machine: $1,049
• 512GB Steam Machine with Steam Controller bundle: $1,128
• 2TB Steam Machine: $1,349
• 2TB Steam Machine with Steam Controller bundle: $1,428

Users who purchase the 2TB version will also receive two swappable faceplates, in “Red Fabric” and “Solid Walnut” colors.

How can you get the Steam Machine?

Hoping that everything goes better than the launch of other Valve hardware, pre-orders will begin on June 25. Valve will use a reservation system to better manage demand. The registration window will close on June 25 at 10 a.m. PT / 1 p.m. ET. Once that time is up, Valve will make the process as fair as possible: instead of a first-come, first-served approach, it will use a rotation system to determine the order in which people can purchase the device. For now, the Steam Machine will only be shipped to four regions: North America, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and Australia.

Another detail to keep in mind is that Valve will implement certain criteria to determine your eligibility to pre-order the Steam Machine:

• You must have a Steam account in good standing
• You must have made a purchase on Steam prior to April 27th 2026
• Limit one signup per household. We will use payment method, shipping address, and other information to eliminate multiple entries.
