Vampire Survivors announces its biggest DLC yet will be a huge tribute to Castlevania
2022′s biggest indie hit, Vampire Survivors, is finally bringing in Castlevania into the mix with what is being touted as its biggest DLC yet.
Full Circle (of the Moon). Vampire Survivors has just revealedd that the incredibly successful game that popularized the Bullet Heaven genre is finally getting a collab with the franchise that inspired it, Castlevania. And it’s happening as the largest expansion to the game that has been released so far. The poncle title is preparing to launch the new DLC, adequately titled ‘Ode to Castlevania’, on October 31, 2024. Right on time for Halloween, the expansion includes music, stages, weapons and characters from the legendary vampire-killing franchise.
Vampire Survivors will have a Castlevania DLC with weapons, music, and levels from the Konami franchise
The new content has been announced as a great celebration of the Castlevania saga, even claiming that “EVERYONE IS HERE!” during the trailer. The video shows that iconic characters such as Simon Belmont, Trevor Belmont, Alucard, and Soma Cruz will be controllable in Vampire Survivors, alongside almost every other hero, with classic monsters and bosses also appearing. But will the big bad Vampire Boss, Dracula, make an appearance? Or will Vampire Survivors continue to hide away its true Vampires?
In total, there will be more than forty new weapons, over twenty new characters, thirty-plus music tracks, and “ONE HUGE CASTLE”, which could be the only level available in the DLC. Of course, honoring the titles of the Konami saga, This “huge castle” looks like a level that changes with each run, since within the lore of this saga, this perverse structure changes its distribution every time it decides to reveal itself to the world. All this at a price of $3,99, and available on October 31, 2024.
The fact that Vampire Survivors is finally having a crossover with the franchise it was inspired by has not gone unnoticed by many because of ts 8-bit aesthetic and its theme of eliminating monsters from beyond the grave. Many found it ironic that a Contra DLC, a franchise also owned by Konami, got into the game before Castlevania. It turns out that we simply had to wait for the circle to close: from a loving tribute to an official collaboration.
This new expansion also shows that Konami and Poncle maintain good relations. One of the great concerns initials in the title community was that its numerous aesthetic and character design similarities with those of the Castlevania saga could lead to some type of litigation, but finally, the Japanese company has been able to recognize that Vampire Survivors was indeed born as a tribute, and not as a crude copy that tried to hang on to the success of this other franchise.
