Vin Diesel wants ‘Fast & Furious’ to go back to its origins, and for his biggest rival to return
‘Fast & Furious’ has pitted cars against nuclear subs, spy planes, tanks, and even flying to space. But Vin Diesel would like the series to return to street racing.
The long-lived Fast & Furious saga seems to be well on track toward its final stretch with the 2026 premiere of ‘Fast X: Part 2′, a hypothetical last installment that may not be the definitive one after all. Vin Diesel has shared a new publication through its Instagram account in which it suggests that the studio wants to make two more movies, so everything indicates that Dom’s Dodge Charger still has gas left for a while. The actor himself has also revealed that he wants to return to the essence of the series, that is to say, street racing, without forgetting his eternal rival: Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.
Will Dwayne Johnson return to the ‘Fast & Furious’ saga?
“I got Universal in one ear saying we need FastX2 by March 2026! I have Comcast in the other ear saying we need two movies to be the Finale!” says Vin Diesel in his Instagram post.”Then the writer on Fast Five sent me this image and said we need to see DOM and HOBBS resolve their differences. I just want to get back to real street racing, practical stunts… and a reunion of that beautiful brotherhood.”
The ‘Fast & Furious’ saga was veering from its origins focused on street racing and tuning so fashionable in the early 2000s to a sort of ‘Mission Impossible’ style of epic, each time more and more fantastical, to the point where the characters flew out to space with their cars. In addition, the actor has suggested that new installments may arrive beyond the finale already announced for 2026. And for this, he wants to have Dwayne Johnson back, with whom he did not end in the best of ways after his time in the action saga.
So much so, that Vin Diesel is willing to put aside his differences to reunite Dom with Hobbs, something in which Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson didn’t seem very interested in when both actors confronted each other publicly. Be that as it may,’Fast X: Part 2′ is scheduled for release in theaters in March 2026; Will it be the definitive end of the saga?
