‘Vought Rising’ reveals first trailer, taking ‘The Boys’ to a gritty 1950s New York
Update:

‘The Boys’ has come to an end, but its legacy will live on. As announced some time ago, ‘Vought Rising’ is one of the spin-offs set to arrive next year, taking us back to 1950s New York to uncover the dark origins of Vought and its experiments to grant superpowers. And here’s is its first look.

The trailer, which had previously been shown only at the series finale screenings, features Soldier Boy wearing a retro suit for the first time, while scientists affiliated with the Sage Grove Center conduct experiments on people to grant them superpowers. Also appearing is Bombsight, played by Mason Dye, who was once a rival of Soldier Boy, as well as Stormfront, played by Aya Cash, who at this stage will be known as Clara Vought and will play a key role in building the Supes’ empire. The cast includes Elizabeth Posey as Private Angel, and Will Hochman as Torpedo.

As we’ve seen throughout the seasons of ‘The Boys’, the Sage Grove Center was where the development of Compound V began, with the drug being tested on psychiatric patients. It is there that an as-yet-unnamed character, played by Jorden Myrie, gains superhuman strength and toughness and escapes from the facility.

Staying true to the essence of ‘The Boys’

Earlier this week, Erick Kripke, showrunner of ‘The Boys’, spoke about what we can expect from ‘Vought Rising‘, noting that it retains the series’ DNA but is set in a “very gritty version of the ’50s.” “It’s definitely got some Boys’ DNA in that it’s irreverent and graphic. But it has this sort of lovely, almost noir-like murder mystery—not Black Noir but actual noir. There are detectives and plot twists, and there’s a murder that then leads to a larger conspiracy.”
