Warzone: why was Ranked play removed and when will it return
Call of Duty: Warzone players were left confused after the Ranked play option disappeared from the game, and over a day after, the mode is still nowhere to be seen.
Call of Duty: Warzone players have been left running circles with no way to play the game in Ranked playlists, after the mode seemingly disappeared yesterday with no news or updates pointing as to when it might return.
While many users where confused at first, the reality is that the developers behind Warzone removed the mode temporarily for a maintenance session on October 4. However, it’s been over 24 hours, and with no updates or hints as to when it might return players are going up in arms on social media.
Warzone players angry at the disappearance of Ranked play
“They didnt even notify the players. Lmao Whats going on?”, asked one user on Reddit, in the largest thread about the ongoing issue. “Others are not mincing words about their annoyance: “Yeah this is some bullsh*t. Was playing ranked earlier took a break to get some lunch and do things around the house and now it’s not there…when the f**k is it coming back?”.
The removal of Ranked play comes at a bad time, with the game having just received a 30GB patch and the COD Next event happening right after. Some users have even begun theorizing that the reason why the mode was taken offline is because many of the game’s streamers and highest ranking players had been invited to the event, and this is some sort of protection granted to them by the devs so they don’t get a disadvantage. Of course, all of this is pure speculation by angry fans who simply can’t get to play their favorite game.
As to when will the mode return, sadly there is no answer to that question. We’ll have to wait for Treyarch to give an official update on the maintenance.
