What can we expect from June’s Nintendo Direct 2024? Games we could and would like to see

With just a few hours to go before June’s Nintendo Direct, we take a look at the possible games and titles that could be featured in the presentation.

Update:
What can we expect from June’s Nintendo Direct 2024? Games we could and would like to see

June’s Nintendo Direct is always a special one. It is the one that we traditionally associate with E3, and where we know the big surprises, the big titles, will be. Tomorrow is the awaited date among Nintendo fans. As with every presentation, we know that fans are asking themselves the same question: “What will we see in this Direct?” A great question that we will try to answer in this text, in which we can consider some of the titles that we will be able to see for the rest of the year.

Since this is a general Nintendo Direct, we can expect both first and third-party Nintendo titles. Unlike the Partner Showcase, which is limited to non-Nintendo developers and publishers, what does that mean? That the fantasy of seeing something related to Metroid Prime 4 (which was revealed 7 years ago) can be fulfilled. Something related to Mario, Zelda, Kirby, or even a Fire Emblem is within the realm of possibility, maybe not the realm of probability. Anyway, let’s review what we do know about this event.

Will there be anything about the Nintendo Switch successor?

In its announcement, Nintendo warned that this Direct will not talk about the Nintendo Switch successor, so it is worth remembering that if you do not see anything related to it in the next 40 minutes. What is worth remembering is that we have until March 2025 for Nintendo to announce this successor console, so we still have time for it.

What games can we expect from this June 2024 Nintendo Direct?

Looking back at previous Nintendo Direct, we know that there are always surprises. We have to keep in mind that this Direct is focused on what’s coming to Nintendo Switch for the rest of the year, and maybe a little beyond. Without having a crystal ball, we can look at what has been revealed in previous months that might return, and of course make some guesses as to what we would like to see.

A year ago, we were presented with surprises that we did not expect, such as the remake of Super Mario RPG, an untitled Peach title (which became Princess Peach Showtime), Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon, and even Super Mario Bros. Wonder or Wario Ware Move It. Faced with this series of surprises, we know that we are facing every possibility of Nintendo. However, this does not mean that we can not dream or make some assumptions:

  • A possible Metroid Prime 2 Echoes Remaster following the success of last year’s Metroid Prime.
  • New looks at Luigi’s Mansion 2 and Nintendo World Championships: NES Edition, which are the next releases in the coming months.
  • Level5 may take the morning, as it has several titles that could be coming to the console this year, including
    • Fantasy Life: The Girl That Steals Time, which was scheduled for the summer of 2024, has been pushed back to October, so we could see something else.
    • Decapolice, another title that is overdue and could see a release date this year.
  • An announcement related to the Among Us update that may have revealed the date of last week’s Nintendo Direct.
  • New games coming to Nintendo Switch Online

Games we could see, but are not so sure about

On the other hand, let’s look at the games we would like to see in this presentation. Considering how Nintendo has been reworking Wii U games and bringing them to Nintendo Switch, and with the success of the Xenoblade Chronicles series on the hybrid, we wouldn’t be surprised to see Xenoblade Chronicles X announced. On the other hand, there have been 3DS titles that have made the jump, it would be interesting to see Tomodachi Life or a The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds make the jump to this console. On the other hand, leaker Pyoro retweeted a post suggesting something to do with the elusive Ace Attorney Investigations series. And well, not to lose tradition, we’ll mention Silksong and Metroid Prime 4.
