When does Gamescom 2023 start: date, place, duration and updates

Germany is getting ready to host a new edition of Gamescom, the largest video game expo in Europe.

Gamescom 2023 about to begin. After returning last year in face-to-face format after the closure due to a pandemic, the biggest video game fair in Europe prepares for an edition that will surely fill up the industry calendar for the remainder of the year and beyond.

When will Gamescom 2023 start? Duration and location

Gamescom 2023 will open its doors between August 23 and 27. As usual, the fair chooses Cologne as the venue to become the great video game capital of the world for a few days. Journalists will have exclusive roam of the expo from August 23 to 25. If you are a fan who simply wants to visit the stands to buy or try games, you can purchase your ticket for the 26th or 27th of the same month.

The night of August 22 will also be special. Geoff Keighley, producer of events such as The Game Awards, will do the same here by hosting the so-called Opening Night Live 2023, a conference that will kick off the fair. The World Premieres will cascade both unannounced games and others already revealed.

As the organizers specify on their official website, visitors will see a multitude of key areas throughout the venues. In addition to the game areas with the latest news, we can expect one dedicated to merchandising, another to independent studios, another for retro games, and the campus, where you can meet developers.

Last year some names stood out that seemed lost in the annals of the industry, such as Dead Island 2. Deep Silver revived the project with a change of hands that suited it really well. It was accompanied by other games such as Sonic Frontiers, The Callisto Protocol, and the Edge model of the DualSense controller.
