When is Mortal Kombat 1 crossplay coming out? Netherrealm confirms the feature for everything but Switch

Mortal Kombat 1 is getting “Krossplay” very soon, allowing players on all platforms to fight against each other. This is when the feature releases.

Update:

It’s been a while since the release of Mortal Kombat 1 back in 2023, but its developers are still pumping out new features and fixes for the fighting game alongside new playable characters and other content. Among those is the long-awaited Crossplay, which now has a release window.

Netherrealm has revealed that the feature, now dubbed “Krossplay” (because of course it’s got to have a K), will arrive to all versions of the game in its upcoming patch next week. This feature will allow players of all platforms to connect with each other, regardless of if they’re playing on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, or PC through either Steam or the Epic Games Store. The only platform that won’t be able to play with the rest is the Nintendo Switch, of which no mention was given in the announcement.

Additionally, the developers revealed that the feature will come to the extremely popular King of the Hill mode in a future update. Every other multiplayer mode, however, should be available for players on different consoles to fight each other.

Mortal Kombat 1 just got a little bit more violent

Just last week we saw the arrival of DC’s Peacemaker into the Mortal Kombat 1 roster, which brings not only his moves and unhinged violence to the game, but also John Cena’s appearance and voice, as the actor himself recorded the lines for the new Kombatant. Even Eagly, the overweight eagle partner of the “superhero”, flies in during kombat to deliver some swift strikes.

Peacemaker is only the second of multiple DLC fighters coming during the first Kombat Pack. Below you’ll find the full list of characters to be added as time goes on.

  • Omni-Man (Fighter, villain of ‘Invincible’ on Prime Video)
  • Homelander(Fighter, villain of ‘The Boys’ on Prime Video)
  • Peacemaker (Fighter, protagonist of his own DC series on HBO Max)
  • Ermac (Fighter, first introduced in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3)
  • Quan Chi (Fighter, first introduced in Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero)
  • Takeda (Fighter, first introduced in Mortal Kombat
  • Tremor (Kameo, first introduced in Mortal Kombat: Special Forces)
  • Four more Kameo fighters yet to be revealed
