Achievements coming to the Nintendo Switch 2: two The Legend of Zelda games are getting them
The Nintendo Switch App is getting rebranded, bringing a few nice features for the Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom Zelda games.

Nintendo is finally stepping into the world of achievements with the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, and fans of The Legend of Zelda series will be the first ones to be able to earn them. Both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are receiving enhanced editions for the new console, complete with a long-awaited achievement system.
These achievements, accessible through the updated Nintendo Switch App (soon to be rebranded as the Nintendo App), will track various in-game milestones. Players can earn medals for completing quests, unlocking shrines, visiting locations, and even collecting rupees. Categories like “Quests and Adventures Cleared” and “Shrines of Light Cleared” will allow players to showcase their progress and compare stats with friends via the app’s Global Play Data feature.
The enhanced editions of these iconic Zelda games will also include improved visuals, faster loading times, and additional features like a second save slot. The new Zelda Notes feature in the app will provide helpful tools such as voiced navigation guides and lore-expanding voice memos from characters like Princess Zelda and Rauru.
With the Nintendo Switch 2 set to launch on June 5, 2025, these updates mark a significant step forward for the console and its games. While achievements are currently limited to these Zelda titles, some of us are hopeful this is just the beginning of a broader system for future Nintendo games.
