When is Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown released? Platforms, date, and trailer

The release of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is imminent. Here’s everything Ubisoft has revealed about its launch date, what platform’s it’ll be available on, and more.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

It’s been well over a decade since the last new title in the Prince of Persia released, with a Sands of Time remake lost in development hell, so when Ubisoft announced last year a brand new game fans were ecstatic. And when it was revealed it’d be a 2.5D Metroidvania, we were all deeply intrigued. Now, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is soon to be released, so players are wondering exactly when they will get to enjoy this new take on the classic franchise.

Below you’ll find many details regarding the game and its release, but if you’re looking to learn more about the game from someone who’s played it already, make sure to read our hands-on preview of the game, written by our own Gabriel Huerta.

When will Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown release?

The official release date for Ubisoft’s Prince of Prencia: The Lost Crown is set for January 18, 2024. That is barely a few weeks away from the time of publication of this article, so fans should not have to wait much longer to fig into this new fantastic version of the legendary series.

On what platforms will the new Prince of Persia be available?

The Lost Crown will be available for purchase on Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC through Ubisoft Connect and the Epic Games Store. It’ll also be available to stream through Amazon Luna.

What will the game be like when it releases?

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will bring back the series to its 2D platformer style, but modernizing it all to become an action packed Metroidvania style game where you’ll fight monsters, get powerful upgrades, weapons and abilities, and use everything you acquire to explore a huge map. We’ve seen bossfights, intense battles, and some crazy powers already on the trailers, and everything seems to point that what we have here is a very promising title.

While the Metroidvania genre is no longer associated with AAA games, it’s important to note that The Lost Crown is being developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, one of Ubisoft’s main studios. This sets the title apart in the genre, as we haven’t seen on of its kind made by such a huge studio before, let alone with the resources and budget that comes from being published by one of the gaming industry’s largest companies in the world.
