Where to watch the original Avatar: The Last Airbender on streaming?

With the first season of Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action remake out, there’s no better time to revisit the original animated series. Here’s where to find it.

It’s been a long time coming, but Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action remake has finally been released on the streaming platform. And while much can be said about how the people behind it have changed the story and its meaning, or how great the characterizations are on the part of the actors, it’s undoubtedly been a success so far. But there is much story left in that story, as the first season adapts only the first part of the animated show, known as Book 1: Water.

As such, fans new and old are flocking back to the original work of Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino to rediscover what made it one of the most beloved and respected series of its time, so much as to be considered an “anime” in a time when the term was much more closely guarded by fans.

Where to find the original Avatar: The Last Airbender on streaming

If you’re looking to stream the original animated series after watching the live-action remake, then you’re in luck: Both are available in full on Netflix. This includes all three parts of Avatar: The Last Airbender, as well as the sequel series, The Legend of Korra, and all of its respective seasons. Netflix also has made the show available with a variety of subtitle options, as well as the Latin American Spanish dub of the show.

If you’re looking for a different platform, Paramount+ also has both animated series available on its library. Paramount is the parent company of Nickelodeon, which originally produced both series with the creators and broadcasted them on the television channel. More importantly, they’ve announced that Paramount+ is set to be place where you’l find all of the upcoming content of the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe, such as the new animated movies, new spinoffs, and all of the other projects currently under development by the original creators of the series.

If you’re looking for other formats, then the way to go is getting the various physical bundles that include all of the series and bonus features produced for the show. While the DVD bundles are more difficult to find as they’ve been out of production for quite a few years, there are still Blu-ray boxes that bring together both animated Avatar series (The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra).
