Will Starfield run at 30 or 60 fps on consoles? Xbox sets a date for the answer

Phil Spencer doesn’t hide after Redfall’s harsh launch, and while dealing with Arkane’s newest title promises transparency for Starfield.

Starfield

It’s been a hard few weeks for Xbox. After the purchase of Activision Blizzard was blocked by the UK Competition and Market Authority, the arrival of Redfall meant another jug of cold water poured on the company’s head. The title developed by Arkane Austin has received very negative reviews, so the alarms have been turned on. Immersed in this media whirlwind, Head of Xbox Phil Spencer has shown his face and responded, among other questions, to whether they will reveal details about Starfield’s performance on consoles before launch.

Eyes are inevitably directed towards the stars. Starfield is the next game from Bethesda, a title they can’t go wrong with. During the Kinda Funny Games Xcast podcast, Phil Spencer was asked if Xbox would follow a different path than they did with Redfall, which confirmed just before its release that the 60fps performance mode would not be available until some time after its arrival.

Spencer’s answer is clear

In the case of Starfield, Phil Spencer has been as concise as he is blunt. Players will know if the game runs at 30 or 60 fps on Xbox Series X/S before launch, in the event dedicated to the game (or so it has been implied). The head of Xbox did not give any clues about what we can expect in this regard, so we must be patient until June.

The Xbox Showcase and Starfield Direct will take place on Sunday, June 11 at 10am PT.

Starfield will go on sale on September 6 for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. The game was scheduled for November 2022, but Bethesda Game Studios needed more time to polish the tiitle, an important video game for the company not only because of the resources invested but because it is the studio’s first new intellectual property in many years.
