WWE is partnering with Twitch and these are the content offerings

WWE announced a partnership with Twitch that will bring new content to their channel outside of simply broadcasting reruns on their other social media.

World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) today announced a multi-year partnership with Twitch. The partnership will see the return of the official WWE channel on Twitch, as well as the launch of new channels for WWE Superstars.

The official WWE channel will feature “live and exclusive content,” including a companion sidecast to Monday Night Raw. “The weekly viewing experience will be led by a rotating cast of hosts,” WWE said in the press release. “[It] will feature regular appearances by WWE Superstars, unique and exclusive content such as backstage interviews and more.”

The WWE Superstar Channels will also feature live and exclusive content, including game streams, Q&As and behind-the-scenes videos. WWE has not yet announced if its other weekly live programs, NXT and Friday Night SmackDown, will also receive sidecasts similar to Monday Night Raw. It appears that WWE is still testing the waters to see what type of content is popular on Twitch. However, WWE has confirmed that press conferences for premium live events, which are typically held after the conclusion of these monthly shows, will now be streamed live on Twitch.

Part of a growing strategy

The partnership with Twitch is part of WWE’s broader strategy to reach a wider audience and engage with fans in new ways. In recent years, WWE has made a number of moves to expand its digital presence, including the launch of its own streaming service, WWE Network, and creating a dedicated YouTube channel. This gives the company access to a large and engaged audience of gamers and wrestling fans, while growing its existing fan base. Twitch is one of the most popular live-streaming platforms in the world with over 175 million monthly active users.

The first Monday Night Raw sidecast will premiere tonight at 8 pm ET exclusively on Twitch. The content and guests have yet to be announced.
