Xbox Game Pass Core replaces Xbox Live Gold: More than 25 games and more benefits

The new service, which will go live on September 14th, will mark the end of Free Games with Gold, but will add new benefits.

Update:
Xbox Game Pass Core

The end of Xbox Live Gold is now official. The Microsoft service, which has been decimated in recent years, will give way to a new subscription. As Wario64 has discovered, Xbox Game Pass Core will become a reality starting September 1. Players who are Live members will automatically become new Core subscribers, so the subscription period will be respected.

The information has just been confirmed by Microsoft after Windows Central first reported and then deleted the news.

Xbox Game Pass Core will cost 9.99 USD per month or 59.99 USD per year. It should be noted that Games with Gold will disappear from the same September 14, although players will be able to enjoy a catalog of 25 games, a library that will fatten over time. Games purchased with Gold will remain permanently in the account.

You will still need to subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Core (or Ultimate) to play online. On the other hand, Xbox Game Pass offers will also be available on Core.

Xbox Live Gold has been operating without interruption for 21 years. Microsoft, for its part, has just received approval to buy Activision Blizzard, a complex operation that has been carefully scrutinized by various regulatory bodies. The FTC has not been able to block it in the United States, so the company will be able to complete the purchase after a federal court ruling. They have also reached an agreement with PlayStation to keep Call of Duty on their consoles.
