XDefiant: “Unable to find match” server problems and how to solve them

XDefiant has finally launched, but as with many live-service games before it, its initial hours are being hurt by server errors.

Update:
XDefiant

After years of development and testing, Ubisoft has finally released XDefiant to the world. Their ‘Call of Duty’ competitor presents a new PvP competitive shooter that changes up some of the oldest conventions in the genre like skill-based matchmaking, but while player response has been positive, it seems the game wasn’t ready for the heavy influx of users. As of right now, various players have reported being unable to join games, with an error screen popping up in-game that reads “Unable to find match”.

What is the “Unable to find Match” error in XDefiant?

Present since the official launch of the game on May 21, 2024, players around the world have been met with an error screen popping up when trying to join matches in XDefiant. While the affected users are able to get into the game, when they head to the playlist screen to join a match they are instead presented with a grey pop-up square that reads “Unable to Find Match”, alongside a warning that states “Playlist not found” in smaller text below.

The error message can actually appear in several spots, even after successfully joining a playlist. This, however, only results in players entering an empty lobby, and after some waiting the pop-up will show up again. As of right now, Ubisoft has confirmed that they are aware of the problem and are actively working to fix the matchmaking issue.

How to fix the “Unable to find Match” error?

Unfortunately, if you’re one of the users that have been affected by this issue there is not much you can do to fix it except wait. Ubisoft has not revealed the reason behind the error, but it seems like some progress is being made.

Unlike similar issues in other games, it looks like players will have to wait patiently for the problem to be solved by the developers.
