Yoshi and the Mysterious Book takes advantage of Mario Day to announce its release date on Switch 2

Although Mario Day could be considered a day to celebrate Mario alone, we cannot ignore the importance of Yoshi throughout all these years. And although just a few months ago we got our first glimpse of his upcoming game on the Nintendo Switch 2, today the release date for Yoshi and the Mysterious Book has been announced, which will arrive sooner than we expected.

The next sidescroller title starring Yoshi will be released next Thursday, May 21. This has been revealed through a new trailer, which provides more details about this new adventure in which Yoshi and his friends will have to help the mysterious Mister Encyclopedia.

What will Yoshi and the Mysterious Book be about?

“While examining the creatures, Yoshi can eat them, jump on them, or even carry them on his back. Use Yoshi’s abilities to reveal all sorts of characteristics about the inhabitants of Mr. E’s pages. Some cause flowers to bloom, others blow bubbles – each new discovery leads to new avenues of exploration, and even more discoveries! One day, on the island where Yoshi and his friends live, a peculiar talking book named Mr. E suddenly falls from the sky,” a synopsis for the game reads. “This mysterious book’s pages contain information about unusual creatures, so Yoshi decides to jump in and help investigate.”

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is one of many exclusive games confirmed for release by Nintendo this 2026, along with Rhythm Heaven Groove and Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. For now, we can see more of Yoshi (and Mario, of course) in the upcoming The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which released its final trailer yesterday.
