Zack Snyder wants to make a Gears of War movie, and he’s got other games in mind too

At this point, there are not many big video game series that have been adapted to the screen through series and movies: Sonic the Hedgehog, Gran Turismo, Super Mario Bros... However, there is one that, despite being highly requested by millions of fans, continues to resist: Gears of War, Microsoft’s action franchise. And no, we don’t have news to confirm it, but Zack Snyder (Justice League, Rebel Moon) has not hesitated for a second to show his desire to make it.

In a chat with Daemon Hatfield from IGN during Gamescom 2023, Snyder, alongside his wife and co-producer Deborah Snyder, responded to a question for which many people expected as concrete an answer as possible: Is there any gaming property that you both think would make a great movie? “There are a lot”, began by stating the popular filmmaker. However, there are two names that he wanted to highlight and both are Xbox Game Studios series: Gears of War and Halo.

In the case of the Master Chief saga, Snyder explained that it is a franchise that he has always liked, although the one that has always been in mind for both him and his closest circle when it comes to directing a movie is Gears of War. He didn’t say anything more about that possibility, but we do have a wish: if it ever comes true, Dave Bautista should play Marcus Fenix. Well, we and himself, since It is not the first time that he has applied to accept said role.

Rebel Moon, the next science fiction hit on Netflix

We have been saying for some time that Rebel Moon aims to be Zack Snyder’s Star Wars and everything that is known about it only confirms what we think. The first of two films will arrive on Netflix on December 22, 2023.
