Update:
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

The war in Ukraine, the energy crisis, Brexit... there are several factors that could have influenced the rise in inflation, especially when the situation in the United Kingdom is still more tricky than that of other European countries. What is hard to believe is that The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom had something to do with the worsening of the situation. In other words, they have blamed the Nintendo game for skyrocketing costs of living.

As reported by GameCentral, the video game vertical of Metro.co.uk, a report from the Office for National Statistics points directly to the work of those from Kyoto, although without mentioning it directly by title. According to the document, the increase in inflation was primarily due to the effect of cultural services, especially due to fees related to live music events, games, toys, and hobbies (particularly computer games).

Blame it on Beyoncé and Zelda

Tears of the Kingdom was the best-selling game for May, the period covered by the ONS report. BBC economics journalist Faisal Islam was one of the first to point out that the organization blamed The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. In fact, Islam has used an image of Twilight Princess to support his argument.

“Strength in computer games prices might have been partly due to release of - aptly titled - “Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom”,” Islam posted on Twitter. Of course, he also said that Beyoncé is ruled out as guilty. After all, her tour started in June.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is now available exclusively for Nintendo Switch. the game has been celebrated not only as one of the greatest titles of 2023, but also as a masterpiece.
