Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi delays its release a couple of days; offers double episode
Disney+ delays the premiere of Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi to May 27. The change will come in the form of a double episode on the first day.
Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi moves slightly up on the calendar. Ewan McGregor himself has been responsible for communicating that the series about the mythical Jedi will premiere on Disney+ the upcoming May 27, two days after its initial date. In addition, it will debut with a double episode, contrary to what has been seen in recent Star Wars productions on the platform.
Everything we know about Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi
Since the release a few weeks ago of its first trailer, we know that the epic was guaranteed since we heard the first chord of Duel of the Fates. Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi will begin 10 years after Revenge of the Sith, where the character "faced his greatest defeat, the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader."
According to Disney+, the former Jedi Master "embarks on a crucial mission. Kenobi must confront allies turned enemies and face the wrath of the Empire." The series will take a total of 6 episodes to narrate its story arc. The producer is also blunt: it is a "limited series", which makes it difficult that the adventures of the old Jedi to extend another season.
Ewan McGregor will once again don the iconic cowl as the Jedi Master alongside Hayden Christensen's return as Darth Vader. They will be joined by other actors including Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O'Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie, among others.
Darth Maul as a villain? Pablo Hidalgo, of the Story Group division, denied reports that it was on the table. Another Lucasfilm source says it was never on the table, nor has the original actor been spotted on set.
