New PS Plus confirms worldwide launch date

PlayStation updates the calendar in which the renewed PlayStation Plus service will be launched. As announced at the end of March, this revamped version with different tiers will arrive in June, but it will be a staggered process in the different markets where PlayStation has the service.

The first ones will be those located in Asia -with the exception of Japan- on May 23rd. Japan will follow on June 1 and all of the Americas on June 13. Europe will be the last market to receive the new version of the service on June 22.

"We’ve been working on this massive global effort to provide flexible options, quality games and greater value for our members for quite some time now – and we’re just a few weeks away from our first regional rollout," PlayStation explains. "We want to thank our PlayStation community for the ongoing support, and we’ll have more to share as we get closer to launch."

What are the new PS Plus tiers?

Three tiers are those presented by the revamped PS Plus. The first, called Essential, brings together all the benefits of the current version of the subscription at the same price: $9.99 per month, $24.99 per quarter or $59.99 per year.

The second modality has a bit more of a twist. PS Plus Extra includes a catalog of up to 400 games "of the best titles for PS4 and PS5". At launch, it will feature titles like Returnal and Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales. You'll be able to subscribe for $14.99 a month, $39.99 a quarter or $99.99 a year.

PS Plus Premium, on the other hand, offers access to up to 340 games from the PS3, PS2, PSX and PSP catalogs. PS3 titles will only be available via cloud streaming, while the rest will be available for download. In addition, the advantages of the other modes and a selection of limited-time playtests will be offered. It will be available for $17.99 per month, $49.99 per quarter or $119.99 per year.
