Update

Ubisoft has clarified the status of Assassin's Creed Liberation HD on Steam and confirmed that players who own it "will be able to access, play and re-download it". The statement, forwarded to IGN, notes that only online functionality will be affected.

Ubisoft is preparing to discontinue the PC version of Assassin's Creed Liberation HD without warning. The PS Vita classic, which was later released on home consoles and PC, has its days numbered on Steam. The official page of the video game on the platform contains two announcements: the first states that it is no longer available for purchase; the second, that it will be completely removed as of September 1.

On previous occasions, players have been able to download titles that were no longer officially available on Steam. However, this case is different, since once that date has passed, everything suggests that it will not be possible to download it either, whether it is kept in the library or not.

The version of Assassin's Creed Liberation HD that will leave the platform is the one that was originally released. The game is also included as part of the Assassin's Creed 3 remaster.

Ubisoft's old game servers shut down

It seems that Ubisoft is cleaning up, the same that is going to take ahead both Assassin's Creed Liberation HD and the servers of a good handful of old games of the French company (including those of this installment of the saga of the assassins). The date? Exactly the same, next September 1.

Ubisoft did comment on the matter: "closing the online services for some older games allows us to focus our resources on delivering great experiences for players who are playing newer or more popular titles."

Assassin's Creed Liberation HD is a video game that originates from the third installment, but tells an independent story starring Aveline, the first female protagonist of the saga. Set in the second half of the 18th century, the player embarks on an adventure before the American Revolutionary War.
