Marvel Snap is adding a PvP mode before the end of the year
Battle Mode will arrive at some point during 2022 and allow players to fight with friends
Card games are going through a golden age on PC and mobile devices right now. Marvel Snap, the free to play game (with microtransactions, of course) developed by Second Dinner has announced an incoming PvP mode where you’ll be able to fight directly with your friends.
This was confirmed by a representative of the studio in a statement to The Washington Post, where it was explained that “Battle Mode” is an upcoming mode focused on playing with friends. It's expected to come out “this year.”
Given the fact that there’s barely two months left until 2022 ends, the arrival of this new mode is prone to come either in November or December. Details are scarce, but a post-launch roadmap was shared in October where they explained that this PvP mode will differ from ranked play, allowing two players to compete “in multiple matches” until either of them burns through their 10 lives.
“We think Battle Mode is the best way to play against friends, or run community tournaments, because it provides a clear winner while still incorporating the snap mechanic,” said Second Dinner in that roadmap. “We can’t wait to see the community play in battle mode!”

Marvel Snap brings together the heroes and villains of Marvel Comics in the shape of cards (although still no mention of MCU versions). The title has some in-game purchases available, although they’re all cosmetic and entirely optional. The free-to-play aspect of the game is quite welcoming to fans, and you’re able to enjoy the game to its fullest without spending a single cent on it.
The game is currently available on PC and mobile devices, both iOS and Android.
