Meet Dumbledore's predecessor in Hogwarts Legacy, a lazy and arrogant headmaster

At the end of the 19th century, the headmaster of the school was Phineas Nigellus Black, although he seems not to have been well remembered.

Meet Dumbledore's predecessor in Hogwarts Legacy, a lazy and arrogant headmaster

Decades before Albus Dumbledore was appointed headmaster of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, his office was occupied by Phineas Nigellus Black. This is the character who runs the place in Hogwarts Legacy, the new production of Warner Bros. Games. Through social media, the studio has shared the profile of this controversial figure, who did not meet with anyone's approval (except for some individual from the Ministry of Magic, apparently).

What is Phineas Nigellus Black like?

"Phineas Nigellus Black who to this day remains the least popular headmaster Hogwarts has ever known, makes little effort to hide the utter disdain he has for his students. He is a cantankerous, lazy and vain pure-blood with a myopic view of the world.” As if those characteristics didn't turn everyone off, he is also defined as a condescending man who looks down on everyone else.

“His goal is to do the least amount of work possible,” stay away from students and boast about his status in the magical world, when not to worry about the state of his beard, always carefully groomed.

Simon Pegg (The Boys) is the actor who plays the much-hated character in Hogwarts Legacy. The developer has shared a video in which he reflects on the interpretation of Phineas. He is named in the books and is portrayed in one of the paintings that hang in the headmaster's office in the Harry Potter films: "He is just a bit of an idiot, really," he said. His surname will ring a bell with fans of the saga, as he is one of the ancestors of Sirius Black and Bellatrix Lestrange. "I think 'Be less like Phineas’ is the message of the game," he joked.

A curious fact is that in the novel Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Hermione Granger hides the portrait of Phineas Nigellus Black because he kept leaking information to Severus Snape, at that time on the villains' side (at least in appearance).

Hogwarts Legacy will run the spell from February 10 on PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC. The PS4 and Xbox One versions won't be ready until April 4, while the Nintendo Switch version will take a little longer and will be released on July 15. It is already one of the most desired (unlike Phineas).
