Virtual Reality
Someone has recreated the original The Legend of Zelda in virtual reality, and the result is amazing
A fan managed to bring the 1986 classic to VR using the QuestZDoom engine, a DOOM conversion made for the Oculus Quest
The origin of it all, the game that started the legend, but now from a different point of view. The Legend of Zelda, launched back in 1986 for the NES/Famicom, is back with a surprising look in Virtual Reality. The following footage was shared by user Sugary Noe on YouTube and Twitter, but of course it’s not an official new version of the game, but a DOOM mod.
This isn’t the first title of the franchise that is put through a VR filter: The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was recreated thanks to Nintendo Labo, while The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild also went through the same process.
Tears of the Kingdom is soaring to the Switch
No, we’re not trying to imply there’s a VR project on the way, we’re only talking about the next big main entry into the Nintendo series. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, a direct sequel to Breath of the Wild, will offer another open world adventure in the land of Hyrule, but also in its vast skies. The title had been planned for release in 2022, but Nintendo admitted they needed more time to polish their game to the desired quality.
Should no more last minute delays happen, the game will be released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch this May 12. 2023 is looking to be an incredible year for gaming: in only the first half of the year we’ll see titles like Resident Evil 4 Remake, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Final Fantasy XVI and Tears of the Kingdom, among many others.
