Hogwarts Legacy’s side missions will impact the main plot
Hogwarts Legacy will come with over 100 side quests that explore the Harry Potter universe, which will impact the main storyline of the game according to the narrative director.
Hogwarts Legacy is finally becoming a reality in just a few weeks. The long awaited title by Warner Bros. Avalanche will offer an open world adventure inside of the Harry Potter universe. In an interview with GamesRadar+, narrative director Moira Squier has revealed that the side missions in the game will have an impact on the main story.
“The main storyline is complicated and engaging, and involves a variety of different characters and viewpoints, but by giving the player choice moments throughout the game, we allow them to tell their own version of that epic story .Even the side quests, of which there are over 100, allow the player to manipulate the main campaign by virtue of the experiences they've had.”
According to the developer, interacting with characters in side quests “will impact how you interact with them in the main storyline – and vice versa.” For example, the order in which players choose to complete these “optional” tasks will influence the main story. “Everything is interconnected”, stated Squier.
A prequel of the magical world of Harry Potter
In Hogwarts Legacy, there’s no place for Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, or any of the characters we already know from the original books or the movies. It’s not possible because it takes place 100 years before their time, at the end of the 19th century. The protagonist will master old magic, leading them to get involved in a fight between wizards, witches, dark wizards and goblins. Should their dark plans come to fruition, it would spell the end of the magical world.
MeriStation was fortunate enough to be invited to play Hogwarts Legacy by ourselves, which means you can now read our first impressions of the title. We had an amazing time with the game, but as always, we’ll have to wait and see the full game before we make a complete review.
For now, fans will have to mark their calendars for February 10, when Hogwarts Legacy releases on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. PS4 and Xbox One versions will launch on April 4, while the Nintendo Switch version won’t be here until July 25.
