2024 MLB Draft: Who has the first pick?
With the 2024 MLB Draft coinciding with the All Star weekend’s festivities, there is no doubt that Fort Worth, Texas is the place to be.
This week, the baseball world descends upon the reigning champions’ stronghold. The Texas Rangers’ turf will play host to an array of festivities: the All-Star Futures Game, the Futures Skills Showcase, the All-Star Celebrity Softball Game, the MLB Draft, the Home Run Derby, and the grand finale, the All-Star Game. This is the fourth consecutive year that the draft aligns with the MLB All-Star Game venue, taking place at Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas.
Of these, the MLB Draft stands as the crown jewel, a three-day, 20-round affair where all 30 teams seek their future legends. This year, college talent dominates the top rankings, a shift from the usual high school-heavy lists.
The Cleveland Guardians clinched the top pick, a stroke of luck from the MLB Draft Lottery last December. Now leading the AL Central with a 56-33 record, they secured the top spot despite just a 2.0% chance of winning.
