2024 MLB World Tour Dominican Republic Series: Dates, teams, tickets

The Red Sox and the Rays will play two games under the name of the Dominican Republic Series on March 9 and 10, 2024, at Quisqueya Stadium.

Major League Baseball has announced its plan to hold eight games outside the United States during the 2024 season, comprising both regular and Spring Training games. Two games will take place in the Dominican Republic, with the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Rays going head-to-head in the Dominican Republic Series at Santo Domingo’s Quisqueya Stadium on March 9 and 10, 2024. The games will be played as part of the spring training and will provide an exciting opportunity for fans in the Dominican Republic to experience Major League Baseball.

Baseball is one of the most popular sports in the Dominican Republic, and the country has a rich history of producing some of the best players in the world. The MLB has reported that 895 Dominican players have played in the Major Leagues, making it the second-highest country of origin for foreign-born players in the MLB.

The Dominican Republic has also produced some of the most iconic players in the sport’s history. Five Dominican players have won the World Series Most Valuable Player (MVP) award, including Pedro Guerrero, José Rijo, Manny Ramírez, David Ortiz, and Jeremy Peña. Furthermore, four Dominican players have been inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, including Juan Marichal, Pedro Martínez, Vladimir Guerrero, and David Ortiz.

This year, baseball fans in the Dominican Republic will have the chance to witness some of the best players in the world as both teams will be present for the fourth MLB exhibition series played on Dominican soil. The series will feature stars such as Rafael Devers, Masataka Yoshida, Yandy Díaz, and Randy Arozarena. The first series was played in 1999 when the New York Mets and the Montreal Expos played two games in Santo Domingo. 2000, the Houston Astros and the Boston Red Sox fought in two games. Finally, in 2020, the Detroit Tigers and Minnesota Twins played an exhibition game. This series is expected to be a thrilling event for baseball fans in the Dominican Republic and showcase some of the best talent in the sport.
