Update:

After dropping their final series before the 2025 MLB All-Star break, the New York Yankees have come out swinging, taking two out of three from the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park.

Powered by a red-hot Aaron Judge, a strong outing from Marcus Stroman, and timely hitting from Paul Goldschmidt and Jazz Chisholm Jr., the Bronx Bombers notched their 55th win of the season on Sunday.

Judge level with A-Rod’s home-run haul

The Yankees’ captain wasted no time making an impact in the rubber match, launching a solo home run in the first inning that rocketed off his bat at 111.2 MPH and traveled 409 feet to right field.

The blast marked Judge’s 351st career homer in pinstripes, tying him with Alex Rodriguez for sixth on the Yankees’ all-time home run list.

Stroman delivered a quality start, going six innings while allowing just five hits, one earned run, and striking out four. The offense backed him up, with Goldschmidt and Chisholm Jr. driving in key runs to extend the lead - Giancarlo Stanton and Judge both crossing the plate thanks to clutch base hits.

Closer Devin Williams sealed the win, though not without a scare. Ronald Acuña Jr. took him deep to straightaway center in the ninth, trimming the lead to 4–2. But Williams regrouped and got Marcell Ozuna to ground out to Goldschmidt at first to end the game.

Who do the Yankees play next?

Next up for the Yankees: a road series against the Toronto Blue Jays, starting Monday. With the AL East race tightening, New York will be looking to rack up wins and reclaim the division lead.

The Yankees have already confirmed their starting rotation for the series: Carlos Rodón will take the mound in Game 1, followed by Cam Schlittler in Game 2, and Max Fried returning to start the finale. (Source: Bryan Hoch, MLB Insider.)
