The stage is set for the 2025 World Series: the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays will battle for the Commissioner’s Trophy in a best-of-seven showdown. The American League champions defeated the Seattle Mariners in seven games, while the National League winners swept the Milwaukee Brewers—powered by a stellar performance from Shohei Ohtani.

The Dodgers are aiming for back-to-back championships after claiming their eighth World Series title in 2024, becoming the first team since the 2000 New York Yankees to successfully defend their crown. The Blue Jays, meanwhile, are seeking to end a 32-year championship drought, having last won consecutive titles in the early 1990s.

Toronto will have home-field advantage, finishing the regular season with a 94–68 record, one game better than Los Angeles’ 93–69 mark.

The Dodgers cruised through the postseason with little resistance. They swept the Cincinnati Reds in the Wild Card Series, then defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in the Division Series, dropping only one game along the way.

How the Blue Jays reached the World Series

As the American League’s top seed, Toronto bypassed the Wild Card round. In the Division Series, the Blue Jays faced their AL East rivals, the New York Yankees, and prevailed in four hard-fought games. The ALCS proved more demanding, as they needed all seven games to eliminate the Seattle Mariners and punch their ticket to the Fall Classic.
