Bailey blasts Dodgers with walk-off slam
San Francisco keeps faint postseason hopes alive with dramatic win at Oracle Park.

The San Francisco Giants need to finish the regular season close to perfect if they want a shot at a National League wild card. Tonight, they took a big step forward, defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-1 on the back of a Patrick Bailey grand slam in the 10th inning.
San Francisco takes the lead, but Los Angeles catches up
San Francisco struck first, but Los Angeles caught up. The Giants’ lone early run came from an Andy Pages error. Yoshinobu Yamamoto opened his start in the first inning with a wild strikeout of Heliot Ramos, then walked Rafael Devers. Willy Adames followed with a deep drive that Pages misplayed, failing to get into position in time.

The Dodgers had runners on first and second in the fourth, but with two outs, Pages hit a hard grounder to third that Matt Chapman snagged and fired across the diamond for an inning-ending play.
The game was leveled in the seventh when Michael Conforto homered to center field, his 11th of the season. He crushed a 91 mph fastball that traveled 400 feet at 110 mph off the bat.
Patrick Bailey gives the Giants the win
San Francisco nearly sealed it in the ninth, loading the bases with one out, but Wilmer Flores and Grant McCray were erased on a double play. Pages atoned for his earlier mistake with a perfect throw from center to home, cutting down McCray.
The Dodgers failed to score in the top of the 10th despite their ghost runner. The Giants once again filled the bases, working walks to Casey Schmitt and Jung Hoo Lee. That brought Bailey back to the plate – hitless all night – only for him to crush a high fastball into the left-center seats, leaving the Dodgers stunned and the Giants alive in the wild card race.
