Diamondbacks vs Dodgers summary online: stats, scores and highlights | MLB NLDS Game 2 highlights

Update:
Oct 9, 2023; Los Angeles, California, USA; Arizona Diamondbacks left fielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. (12) reacts after hitting a home run against the Los Angeles Dodgers during the sixth inning for game two of the NLDS for the 2023 MLB playoffs at Dodger Stadium. Diamondbacks belief grows with second win

Dodgers sleep on D-backs and pay the price

The Diamondbacks came into the NLDS with a stunning win over the Dodgers. Los Angeles said that it was just a fluke. With this second win, it is becoming evident that the Diamondbacks were seriously underestimated.

The Dodgers were perhaps lulled by their regular season meetings which saw the D-backs falter. But by jumping out to a first inning lead, Arizona is well and truly free of those shackles.

The worry now for the Dodgers is the fact that they have now thrown the very best that they have at Arizona, and it has made not a jot of difference. Kershaw was neutralized, Bobby Miller was nullified, and whatever they have in reserve is going to have to step up in a big way.

Those big Dodger bats have yet to explode in the way that they can either, despite a JD Martinez home run today.

As the series moves to Arizona, Los Angeles are in do or die territory. One more loss will see their spectacular season end prematurely. For the Diamondbacks, they have to take just one of the next three games to advance, meaning that their road has just gotten far more easy.

That is not to say that all is lost. The Dodgers can, and have, snapped out of these situations before. But in order to do that, you get the feeling that there needs to be a change in mentality. For some reason, the Dodgers always look amazing in the regular season, and then underperform in the post season. They are in danger of becoming a cautionary tale.

Dave Roberts needs to come up with a new approach, a new tack. Because there is one thing that is more true in baseball than anywhere else: if you do what you always did, you will get what you always got.

WELCOME!!!!

Welcome to the Diario AS USA live commentary of Game 2 of the 2023 NLDS matchup between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Los Angeles Dodgers from Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California.

The Arizona Diamondbacks swooped into Los Angeles in Game 1 of the NLDS and did what they had threatened to do all season. They opened up and bombarded Dodgers pitching.

It is almost becoming a post season given that the Dodgers lead the league, play the regular season like Hall of Famers, and then roll into October looking like a cross between Marvelous Marv and Bob Uecker, dazed and wondering how it all fell apart on them.

On paper, the Dodgers are the better team.

This season marks the fourth in a row that Los Angeles has won at least 100 games, the first team in MLB history to accomplish the feat. Overall, the Dodgers have had 11 such seasons. In none of them have they managed to win the World Series.

The entirety of the 2023 season, no team has been as consistently underestimated as the Arizona Diamondbacks. Arizona has time and again shown that when they are underestimated, the Snakes can strike. In the Wild Card series, they swept a Milwaukee team who felt that they deserved to advance. In game one of the NLDS, Arizona posted 11 runs on the ace of the Dodgers rotation, Clayton Kershaw.

The Dodgers came into the series sleeping on the D-Backs and  that, as they learned, is a dangerous thing to do.
