Did Aaron Judge finally break the “Paw Patrol” spell?
The “Judge” had gone 16 games without hitting a home run in the Major Leagues, and yesterday, he broke the streak with a grand slam against the Red Sox.
Aaron Judge suffered from an unusual curse since he appeared in the children’s cartoon series Paw Patrol. ‘The Judge’ went 16 games without hitting a home run in the Major Leagues. However, he broke the spell in the best way possible.
The New York Yankees (86-62) outfielder hit a grand slam in the seventh inning of the game against the Boston Red Sox (74-74), where they won 5-4. The ‘Bronx Bombers’ were four runs behind at the start of that roll, but after walks to Anthony Volpe and Alex Verdugo, Gleyber Torres broke the tie with a producing single.
The bases loaded with a walk to Juan Soto, and Judge sent all runners home with his 52nd home run of the year. Verdugo, Torres, and Soto scored because “The Judge’s” hit traveled 369 feet to left field.
With this homer, Judge is ten away from reaching the mark he set in 2022. That means he has 14 games left to try to surpass it. So far, he has hit a homer almost every three games, and with that average, he would reach 57 HRs for the year if he plays all the remaining regular-season games.
Yankees' bullpen takes the game out
Following four runs Clarke Schmidt and Leiter Jr. allowed, Aaron Boone sent Luke Weaver to the mound for the eighth inning; the right-hander struck out Tyler O’Neill, Connor Wong, and Wilyer Abreu.
The reliever stayed for the final inning and managed to hang up the ring when Triston Casas was flagged for a chocolate.
Trevor Story popped out to second base and struck out Ceddanne Rafaela.
