José Miranda has established his name in the Major League record books as he tied the streak for most consecutive at-bats with a hit by reaching 12 in the Minnesota Twins’ victory over the Houston Astros.

The players who achieved that mark were Johnny Kling in 1902 with the Chicago Cubs, Pinky Higgins in 1938 with the Boston Red Sox and Walt Dropo in 1952 with the Detroit Tigers.

Hunter Brown ended Miranda’s streak badly when he hit him on the left hand during the first inning. However, the Puerto Rican reached 11 at-bats with a hit when he had an RBI single in the second roll to score 4-0 in favor of Minnesota.

Miranda hit a powerful line drive to center field to equal the Major League record. The Puerto Rican reached base safely for the 13th time in a row, a record in Twins history.

The streak ended in the sixth inning when the Twins third baseman connected with Brown’s serpentine, but Chas McCormick caught the ball without any problem in the outfield.
