Dodgers could lose these key players after back-to-back World Series wins
Several Dodgers, including fan favorites Miguel Rojas and Kike Hernández, could leave Los Angeles after their historic championship run.
After clinching consecutive MLB titles, the Los Angeles Dodgers may see some of their roster leave as seven players become free agents in 2026.
Saturday’s thrilling World Series saw the Dodgers edge out the Toronto Blue Jays in ten innings, but several key contributors could depart the organization once their contracts expire.
Miguel Rojas and Kike Hernández could leave Dodgers
The MLB’s communications team announced the full list of upcoming free agents across all teams on social media. Among the Dodgers’ departures are Venezuelan infielder Miguel Rojas and Puerto Rican utility player Kiké Hernández, a fan favorite.
Legendary Kershaw hangs up his cleats
Of the seven Dodgers set to hit free agency, one has already confirmed his retirement. Hall-of-Fame-caliber pitcher Clayton Kershaw will retire as a two-time World Series champion, closing out his storied career with the team he helped define.
Other Dodgers players entering free agency include Michael Conforto, Andrew Heaney, Michael Kopech, and Kirby Yates. None of them played a role in the World Series this year.
Rojas shines in crucial World Series moment
While Yoshinobu Yamamoto grabbed the headlines with two dominant starts, Rojas delivered a crucial ninth-inning home run that tied Game 7 and set the stage for the Dodgers’ extra-innings victory.
“He’s the ultimate team player, and hitting that home run to tie the game brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it,” said teammate Max Muncy.
At 36, Rojas is also contemplating retirement, though he could return next season for one last run, whether with the Dodgers or another team.
Hernández faces another free agency question
After renewing his contract last year, Kiké Hernández will once again enter free agency. The big question is whether he will stay in Los Angeles or move on to the highest bidder. Hernández previously flirted with joining the Yankees.
