Dodgers pitcher Miguel Rojas shares why Kike Hernandez trolled Drake after Ohtani diss: “That doesn’t go unnoticed”
Rojas explains why Hernández called out Drake during Dodgers’ World Series celebration after the rapper mocked Shohei Ohtani.
The 2025 World Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays is already being hailed as one of the greatest ever. A roller-coaster ride from start to finish, suspense over which team would come out on top lasted until the very last pitch.
Toronto’s Addison Barger hit a pinch-hit grand slam in Game 1, the first in World Series history. Game 3 became the second-longest in championship series history, while Blue Jays’ Trey Yesavage broke a host of rookie records in Game 5.
When Toronto led 4-3 at the top of the ninth inning in Game 7, ESPN Insights gave them a 91.7% chance of winning. Despite the odds, the Blue Jays still fell short. The list of dramatic moments goes on.
Drake trolls Shohei Ohtani
Canadian rapper Drake was among the most vocal Blue Jays fans, confident his team could win a first World Series since 1993. After Toronto’s Game 5 victory gave them a 3-2 series lead, Drake took to social media to poke fun at Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani.
Almost immediately after the game, Drake posted two photos of Ohtani on Instagram stories. The first showed Ohtani in a sweater vest with the caption “ONE MORE!!!!!!!” The second captured Ohtani being struck out by Yesavage, accompanied by Drake’s note: “Savage already otw to the dugout boss lol.”
Dodgers rally inspired by Ohtani, leave Drake red-faced
Drake’s trolling proved premature. Inspired by Ohtani, the Dodgers won the final two games to secure back-to-back championships. Whether the Japanese star was motivated by Drake’s posts remains unclear, but teammate Miguel Rojas told TMZ Sports the Dodgers locker room was aware of the posts, and not pleased, which led to Kiké Hernández firing back at Drake during the team’s World Series celebrations on Monday.
“We got this guy right here, we all know who he is, but you don’t have to do that, man,” Rojas said. “Shohei Ohtani, he’s been doing everything and anything for baseball, and that’s kind of why Kiké kind of had his moment there.”
Hernández made two references to Drake while addressing fans at Dodger Stadium, calling himself “October’s Very Own,” the name of Drake’s record label, and quoting lyrics from Drake and Future’s 2015 song “Big Rings”: “This really big team that has a lot of really big rings.”
Even the Dodgers got in on the fun, posting a team photo on social media with the caption: “THEY STILL NOT LIKE US,” referencing Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” a diss track aimed at Drake.
Sometimes, it’s best not to poke the bear.
