Aaron Judge made history at Fenway Park as the New York Yankees beat the Boston Red Sox 4-1 in a direct battle for American League playoff spots. With one swing, Judge passed Joe DiMaggio on the Yankees’ all-time home run list, cementing his place among the Bronx Bombers’ legends.

The win went to pitcher Luis Gil, who blanked the Red Sox over the first six innings. Lucas Giolito took the loss, undone from the moment Judge took him deep.

Judge’s historic home run

Judge’s 47th home run of the 2025 season was the blast that pushed him past DiMaggio in Yankees history. He crushed a fastball right down the middle from Giolito, sending it soaring 468 feet over the Green Monster.

New York doubled their advantage in the third inning when Judge scored on a Cody Bellinger RBI grounder to left field. The former Dodgers and Cubs star ripped a sharp grounder, and Judge sprinted home from third to make it 2-0.

Ryan McMahon and Ben Rice tacked on more runs in the seventh. With José Caballero on third, McMahon bounced a grounder between first and second, and David Hamilton’s wild throw home allowed the Panamanian to score. McMahon then crossed the plate himself on a line drive from Rice.

Red Sox avoid the shutout

Just when it seemed the Yankees would blank Boston, a newcomer salvaged some pride. Nate Eaton, signed as a minor-league free agent, hammered a pitch off the Green Monster and out of Fenway for a solo homer to make it 4-1.

But Eaton’s night ended on a sour note. With two outs in the ninth, he struck out swinging on a sweeping curve from David Bednar, sealing the Yankees’ victory.
