Dominican relief pitcher Enyel De Los Santos made his debut with the New York Yankees in Friday’s 8-5 victory against the Toronto Blue Jays. The 28-year-old was brought on board last week in a trade which included Thomas Balboni Jr and saw Brandon Lockridge going in the opposite direction to join the Padres in what is a period of change for the San Diego franchise.

De Los Santos’ debut performance was satisfactory enough - 1.2 innings with 21 pitches.

De Los Santos’ MLB figures

The reliever has six years of experience in Major League Baseball and joins the ‘Bronx Bombers’ with a record of 1-2, 4.46 ERA, 48 strikeouts and 13 walks in 40.1 innings of work with the ‘Friars’team.

Prior to his stay in San Diego, the Dominican baseball player played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Cleveland Guardians and Pittsburgh Pirates.

In addition to the Dominican reliever, they also sealed the arrival of Mark Leiter Jr. in a trade with the Chicago Cubs; so it was a position that needed to be urgently covered by the Manhattan Mules.
