México Update:

Luis Urías is still fighting for another shot in the majors, and his next opportunity will come in a new uniform. The Sonora‑born infielder is leaving the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Triple‑A affiliate and heading to the Toronto Blue Jays organization, where he’ll also report to their minor‑league system for the remainder of the 2026 season.

Urías has actually put together a solid campaign in the minors, but a hamstring injury earlier in the year stalled his momentum. That setback cost him his spot with the Milwaukee Brewers’ big‑league club and eventually pushed him out of the organization altogether.

Still, his production has been impossible to ignore.

“El Wicho”, red-hot in 2026

Before the move, Urías was hitting .367 in 117 plate appearances, an eye‑popping number for someone who never received a call‑up from Arizona. That level of consistency at the plate is exactly why a change of scenery could work in his favor.

Toronto, a team known for giving opportunities to versatile infielders, may offer the clearer path he needs to get back to the majors.

A chance to climb again

For Urías, this isn’t just a transfer — it’s a reset. If he keeps swinging the way he has, the Blue Jays’ front office may have no choice but to take a closer look.

A hot bat, a new organization, and a clean slate could be the combination that finally gets him back to an MLB roster.
